Harold Philipsen is managing director of The Virginia Peninsula Group.

Harold graduated from the Amsterdam School of Business with a B.S. in International Business. A Dutch native married to an American, Harold has lived and worked in both the Netherlands and the US.

He spent the first part of his professional life in Europe managing large client relationships in both the Telecommunications and Flexible Employment industries. 

Harold first met Northwestern Mutual when he and his wife became clients in 2004 after they moved back to the US.  He moved back to join his wife's family transportation business, where he succeeded in growing sales considerably. While in the family business, he worked closely to ensure adequate insurance coverage while managing costs. It was there that he realized he was far more drawn to the financial security aspects of running the family business, including insurance, investments and estate planning, than the business itself.  When Harold mentioned to his own Northwestern Mutual Representative (and friend) that he was interested in moving into the financial services industry, the friend said, "you've got to come to Northwestern."

Harold joined The Virginia Group in March 2006 as a Financial Representative, became Field Director in 2009 and Managing Director of Northwestern Mutual - The Virginia Peninsula Group in 2010.
